From the Journal Tribune: “A morning stroll around her yard turned into a brief encounter with a black bear for Tonya Hunter Tuesday morning. Hunter, who lives in a subdivision off Deering Neighborhood Road, said she was startled while examining her flowers when she looked up to see the black bear at her bird feeder about 15-20 feet away.”

From the Biddeford-Saco Journal: “A fire of undetermined origin burned a section of a rear wall and part of the floor of the Palace roller skating rink on Staples street today. State and local fire officials were checking the area at noon in an attempt to find the cause of the smoky blaze. Two men reported the fire to the firefighters. They drove to the station and said a building in the waterfront section was on fire. These men were not identified, according to fire officials.”

From the Biddeford Daily Journal: “Fire which is presumed to have started around the chimney destroyed the pretty farm home known as Sunnycrest owned by Eugene Dorset in Limington Wednesday. Mrs. Dorset, who was alone in the house, did not know about the fire until the house was wrapped in flames.”
