FREEPORT
A Freeport man was arrested and faces multiple charges after he allegedly shot a rifle several times following an argument with a family member Saturday afternoon.
The disturbance was reported at 4:50 p.m. on Litchfield Road. Linwood Maynard Grover, 34, of Freeport was allegedly visiting a residence where he had an argument with a family member that escalated to a physical fight, according to Lt. Susan Nourse, Freeport’s acting police chief. Grover got a .22 rifle and shot it several times, she said, but did not injure the family member.
The gun was at the residence, according to Nourse, and was seized by police after the incident. Because Grover is a convicted felon, he is not allowed to be in possession of a gun.
Grover left the residence before police arrived but was arrested in Bath about 30 minutes later by Bath Officer Garrett Olson, and was eventually turned over to Freeport police.
Grover was charged with aggravated reckless conduct, possession of firearm by prohibited person, criminal threatening and violation condition of release.
