Trevor DeLaite of Bangor High has been selected as the 2016 Gatorade Maine Baseball Player of the Year.
DeLaite, a senior, has a 5-1 record this season and is 20-2 in his varsity career. The 6-foot-1, 180-pound left-handed pitcher had a streak of 39 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings until allowing a run in a 1-0 loss to Edward Little on Monday. He entered the game with a .372 batting average and 13 RBI.
DeLaite will attend the University of Maine this fall on a baseball scholarship.
