The Braves have fired manager Fredi Gonzalez two months into his sixth season, Atlanta general manager John Coppolella says.

Gonzalez, who managed the Double A Portland Sea Dogs in 1997, replaced former Braves manager Bobby Cox in 2011. He previously managed the Florida Marlins from 2007-2010.

During his one season with the Sea Dogs, Gonzalez led the team to a 79–63 record and a first place finish.

The Braves dropped to 9-28 after an 8-5 defeat to the Pittsburgh Pirates Monday.

The Braves haven’t won consecutive games over a 5-19 span during which they’ve averaged 2.7 runs and hit eight home runs, according to a report on ESPN.com.
