Emma Dube didn’t have any problem running the bases at Hadlock Field before Sunday’s Sea Dogs game. And she certainly knows how to deal with hits in life.
Emma was 9 months old when she was diagnosed with liver cancer. She was honored before the start of the Sea Dogs game as an “Anthem’s Heroes at Hadlock” honoree. The program aims to raise awareness for the Maine Children’s Cancer Program, which was where Emma beat back her cancer.
She’s now a happy, active 6-year-old who lives in Topsham and loves playing piano and soccer.
Emma celebrated her win over cancer Sunday by running around the bases with her sister, Eliza. She high-fived players along the way. Her personalized Sea Dogs jersey was a little big for her, with a large 6 – her age – emblazoned below her name.
