Summer Day Camp

Register now for Summer Day Camp, in person at town hall or online at www.WindhamRecreation.com. The website has details about new programs, including the Senior Camper Program for incoming ninth-graders, Summer Video Production for grades 3-8, the Be the Leader program and many others. The free Learn to Play Tennis Day is scheduled Sunday, May 22, from 10-11:30 a.m. Call 892-1905 for more information.

Senior citizen trip

An Isles of Shoals Cruise & Luncheon out of Portsmouth, N.H., is being planned for June. Cost includes transportation, cruise and lunch. Guided tours of lighthouses and grounds. Co-sponsored with the Standish, Cape Elizabeth, Gorham and Falmouth recreation departments. Cost is $64 for residents, $69 non-residents. Deadline to register is Thursday, May 26. Call 892-1905.

Parade participants wanted

Memorial Day is fast approaching! The American Legion Field-Allen Post 148 extends an open invitation for groups and individuals who may wish to joins in the Memorial Day parade. The parade will start at 9 a.m. Monday, May 30, at the Town Hall. Scout groups and organizations, school groups, fraternal groups, church groups, military affiliations and others who would like to celebrate Memorial Day with our veterans are welcome. Please contact Post Adjutant at 892-3106, for more information or to make arrangements to join the parade.

Smith Cemetery meeting

The annual meeting of the Smith Cemetery Association will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at the Masonic Hall on River Road. If you have any questions, call Secretary Kay Soldier at 892-5381 or email at kso48@aol.com.

Wednesday Vets

The Veteran’s Social Mixer at the Windham Veterans Center is held Wednesdays from 9-11 a.m. Veterans are welcome to drop in and have coffee with fellow vets and see what’s going on.

Thrift Shop

The North Windham Union Church thrift shop is open Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1-3 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon. Spring bargains may be found in adult and children’s clothing. Books, games and toys are available in the children’s room. Shoppers will find a lot of household items that may be great for camp. The Thrift Shop is at the church, near the corner of routes 302 and 115.

Bluegrass concert

On Saturday, May 28, Joe K. Walsh & Sweet Loam, a bluegrass band, presents a concert hosted by Music with a Mission at 7 p.m. at the North Windham Union Church, Route 302, North Windham. Proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland. Tickets for this special show will be sold at the door and are $14 for adults and $12 for students, children and seniors. Tickets are also available in advance online at www.mwamconcerts.com. The box office opens at 6 p.m. and the doors will open at 6:30. Good Shepherd visits

Mark your calendar: On Wednesday, June 8, Good Shepherd Food Mobile will be at the Windham Food Pantry, 377 Gray Road, from 10-11:30 a.m. with produce, meat, canned goods and more. Bring your own bags or boxes.

The Village School, a one-room schoolhouse that will be part of the Windham Historical Society’s campus, is taking shape with recycled blackboards from the demolished John A. Andrew school, benches with tops made from antique barn boards, and a teacher’s desk and chair from the Reeves estate. Volunteers continue to work toward a 2016 opening of the post-Civil War era replica schoolhouse.
