Sea Bags, the Portland company that makes upscale totes, home accessories and other items from recycled sail cloth, is opening three more stories this summer.
The company intends to open new stores in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York by Memorial Day. The new stores will bring the total retail outlets to eight, including the flagship store and company headquarters in Portland and a store in Freeport.
“While Connecticut and New York are new states for us in terms of bricks and mortar, Newburyport represents our third store in Massachusetts,” said CEO Don Oakes in a news release. “With their beautiful coastal settings, together with a growing following of online customers in these states, we’re confident these locations will be great for us.”
The 600-square-foot store in Newburyport, Massachusetts, opened on April 28, while the 880-square-foot in Greenport, New York, and the 925-square-foot store in Mystic, Connecticut, will open at the end of the month.
