ARUNDEL — Southern Maine’s newest music venue, Vinegar Hill Music Theatre, opened its online box office on April 26.

The venue is located at 53 Old Post Road, the site of the former Arundel Barn Playhouse. Set in a former barn, the theater seats 200 people, said managing partner Debbie Lennon.

The barn and the former farmhouse next door date back to the 1800s, and the latter will be used to house performers, said Lennon.

Creative director George Dvorsky said late last month that the theater was working on ironing out all the glitches on online box office at vinegarhillmusictheatre.com prior to opening. Dvorsky said all ticket sales will be done electronically until the physical box office opens.

“We are thrilled about the first season, but what’s more important is that the community is excited too,” said Dvorsky. “The energy out there is great.”

The season will begin June 20 with The Four C Notes, a Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons tribute band, and will continue through September.

The season lineup includes a hypnotist, a medium, comedians, authors and a number of musicians, including The James Montgomery Blues Band, Livingston Taylor, Paula Cole and The Juice Newton Trio.

“I am thrilled with the lineup,” said Dvorsky. “But what’s amazing are the calls and emails of people saying that they will go broke coming to see so many of the acts.

“When I heard and read all of this, I smiled, knowing that the audiences will love who we have.”
