Local potters throughout Maine have once again joined together to celebrate ceramics by opening their studios to visitors on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Created in 2011 to educate the public and to provide an opportunity for Maine’s robust ceramic artists to open their studio doors, Maine Pottery Tour now boasts well over 35 participating studios that stretch across the state. Welcoming visitors and artists alike, this annual weekend is a fantastic opportunity for casual to serious ceramic enthusiasts to meet artists, observe demonstrations, peek into kilns and shop for local handmade goods.
Celebrating its fifth year, Maine Pottery Tour has evolved to include several regions, all of which are organized on their website and grouped together via interactive map.
Local participating studios are as follows:
• Arrowsic Island Pottery, 344 Old Stage Road, Arrowsic
• The Pottery Project, 6 Main St., Bowdoinham
• River Arts Ceramics Studio, 241 U.S. Route 1, Damariscotta
• Ash Cove Pottery, 75 Ash Cove Road, Harpswell
• Liz Proffetty Ceramics, 118 West Old Country Road, Newcastle
