FREEPORT — Arlene Frances (Cushing) Giggey, 83, of Freeport passed, from this life on to another, on Wednesday, April 20th 2016. She was born in Portland, Maine on September 22nd, 1932 daughter of Mary (Overez) and Arthur G. Cushing. She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary and Oak Leaf Seniors of Freeport. Arlene was passionate about spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, being an active part of their lives. She was a grandmother you could just go talk to, always happy to see a grandchild. She supported all her grandchildren, through all their ups and downs, cheering at their sporting events and music concerts. The world won’t be the same for her grandchildren. Her love was unconditional. The love and devotion she showed to those around her cannot be simply explained. She said, “everyone should have a grandchild because I felt it was a very special part of my life.”

She worked for many years at the former Eastland Shoe in Freeport and later at L.L. Bean until she retired. She enjoyed feeding the birds, caring for others around her, her family, her independence, being a part of the community as well as her two favorite teams: Red Sox and Patriots.

Arlene is survived by her children, William and his wife Susan of Freeport, Gerald and his wife Sandra of Brunswick, Carrie Mack of Brunswick and Catherine and her husband Robert of Waterville. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 10 greatgrandchildren. Also surviving is her sister Kathleen Prindall of Freeport and a special stepdaughter, Linda Myrick of Rochester, NH.
