WELLS — Four Wells High School art students traveled to the Maine Statehouse in Augusta to meet with legislators and advocate for the arts on March 29. The event was organized by the Maine Alliance for Arts Education in conjunction with Arts Advocacy Day.

Acting as lobbyists, students Elana Fortin, Alyssa Loukola, Nick Maynard, and Sydnie Sayward, waited in the halls of the State Capital building for the opportunity to speak to their local state senator and representatives about the value they place on arts in their school. Between the morning caucus and legislative meetings in the chambers, students connected with Sen. Ron Collins and Reps. Robert Foley and Patricia Hymanson.
