FREEPORT — On Friday, April 29, from 6:30 p.m. until 12:30 a.m., the First Baptist Church of Freeport will host six-hours of prayer and Bible study, “Secret Church 2016: a Global Gospel in a World of Religions.”
Simulcast live from Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte, N.C., the event is led by author and evangelist David Platt, to raise awareness about the lives of persecuted Christians around the globe.
“We will explore the claims of Christ in the gospel and consider how these claims inform the way we understand religions in the world and impact the way we live when surrounded by varied believers with diverse belief systems,” the event’s web site states.
David Platt, author of “Radical — Taking Back Your Faith from the American Dream,” launched Secret Church in 2006 after spending time in secret Asian house churches where Christ-followers gathered together for 8-12 hours of prayer, worship and Biblestudy.
