PORTLAND — The Maine Baseball Hall of Fame will welcome nine new members at its 46th Annual Induction Ceremony and Banquet to be held July 17 at the Holiday Inn By the Bay.
Amel Kiszonak of Lisbon Falls will be inducted posthumously.
Kiszonak was a three-year letterman at the University of Maine in the 1930s and later managed the Roberts 88ers to semi-professional success during the heyday of Maine town baseball.
Other inductees are Ralph Damren (Old Town), Dan Deshaies (New Gloucester), Thom Freeman (Wrentham, Mass.), Dave Gonyar (Bangor), Dan Kane (Surry), Mike Mazerall (Westbrook), John Sawyer (Oakland) and Gary Williamson (Bethel).
Also, former Portland Press- Herald sports reporter Tom Chard was named the recipient of the 2016 Sonny Noel President’s Award.
