CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The Bates College women’s track and field team won five events in a strong performance against three excellent opponents Saturday in a quad meet at MIT that included Tufts and RPI.

Sophomore Sally Ceesay broke the program outdoor triple jump record, in one of seven performances by Bates athletes that made waves on the team’s all-time top 10 performance lists. Ceesay won the event with her longest effort of 38-4.75, six inches beyond her previous outdoor best.

Bates also won the 4 x 100 relay race in 49.00 seconds, with a team featuring Ceesay, junior Allison Hill of Brunswick, junior Claire Markonic and senior Alexis Dickinson of Brunswick, making them the third-fastest 4 x 100 unit in program history.

Hill’s time of 1:04.44 in the 400-meter run is fourth all-time for Bates, while Hill placed second in the 100-hurdles (15.06).

Meanwhile, Dickinson won the 100 in 12.88 and finished third in the 200 (26.70).

Bates competes at the UNH Wildcat Invitational on Saturday in Durham, N.H.
