MEDFORD, Mass. —

The Bates College women’s tennis team suffered an 8-1 defeat against 14th-ranked Tufts on Saturday.

The Bobcats fell to 3- 9 ( 0- 3 NESCAC) and host Bowdoin on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Bates earned a point at No. 1 doubles as former Brunswick High School standout Maisie Silverman teamed up with Kate Rosenthal for an 8-4 win.

Silverman played well in her No. 1 singles match, dropping a close 6- 1, 2-6, 6-2 match to Tufts’ Lauren Louks.
