Thursday, March 31 at 6 p.m.

Celebrate the season at the Wells Public Library. The library will welcome the warmer weather with spring-themed crafts, games, and, of course, temporary tattoos. Come for the fun and leave with some cool body art. This free event is sponsored by the Friends of the Wells Public Library. Are you a DC Comics fan? Then come celebrate the upcoming movie “Batman vs. Superman” with an afternoon of crafting, snacking, gaming and talking all about superheroes. Each month the Wells Public Library celebrate a new popular theme geared toward kids in grades 5-8 and this month The library is celebrating DC superheroes. Mondays, April 4 at 10:30 a.m.

Come and join other parents of young ones, ages 0-24 months, for a yoga session developed by instructor Cindy Simon. The class is the first Monday of the month, and is well-suited for beginners and masters alike. Baby yoga promotes better sleep and helps stimulate both the digestive and the nervous systems. Wednesday, April 13 at 2 p.m.

Create your own watercolor galaxy painting at the library. In celebration of the meteor showers that are happening on April 22 and 23, teens are invited to come to the library and unwind after school by painting their own galaxies. Have an iPad, but also have some questions about it? Join the Wells Public Library and other iPad users for an informal Q&A session. Bring one’s device, cords, user names and passwords, and the group will try to demystify the things that have people stumped. Registration is not required, but appreciated. Join the group for an informal approach to practicing or relearning French. This group will meet weekly on Thursdays to speak French. The group offers some activities, questions, and other approaches to practicing the language, but mostly it will be up to the group to determine what the format will be. Monday, April 4 at 1 p.m.

Come to the library on the first Monday of each month as Jolene Staruch talks about “what’s for dinner.” A menu and recipes for the month will be given out, there will be cooking demonstrations using locally sourced ingredients, as well as tips to make the cooking (and eating) fun. York Hospital dietitian Kaytlin Kimball will also be on hand to provide helpful nutritional advice and answer questions. Tuesday, April 5 at 1:30 and 3 p.m.

Nancy Doyle is a local resident and an amateur genealogist with 14 years of experience. She has spent years doing her own genealogy and research, and is available to help genealogy beginners get started in exploring their family history. Ancestry.com is available at the library and will be used, as well as other free genealogy resources. Registration for 1.5 hour appointments is required. Tuesday, April 5 at 6 p.m.

April is National Poetry Month, and the library will be celebrating by offering an evening of poetry reading. Poets from the community are encouraged to join to read from their own work, or a favorite piece from another poet. People who enjoy listening to poetry are welcome to join too. The library will provide light refreshments. If members of the community would like to participate, call the library at 646-8181. Wednesday, April 6 at 2 p.m.

Needle felting is a process using barbed needles to interlock wool fibers to form a more condensed material. Local needle felter Danielle Bonney will teach how to make a hummingbird using this technique. For inspiration, see Danielle’s Etsy store at www.etsy.com/shop/wildthingsmaine. Materials are provided. Bring a shoebox of unorganized printed photos and get started organizing them. During this workshop, Lisa Luken, Photo Organizer and Simplicity Coach, will provide guidance and direction to help anyone finally get started on this “someday” project. Join the library for an afternoon of poetry with talented local author, Megan Grumbling. Megan is a writer, editor, and teacher who grew up in Wells and now lives in Portland, Maine. Awarded the Ruth Lilly Fellowship and the Robert Frost Foundation Award, her poetry appears widely in literary journals. Megan’s poetry collection, Booker’s Point, received the 2015 Vassar Miller Prize, and is forthcoming from the University of North Texas Press in 2016. The library will provide light refreshments. Tuesday, April 12 at 6:30 p.m.

Sean Gaskell, a North Carolina musician, will give a performance on the Kora, an ancient 21-stringed harp from West Africa. Gaskell has studied extensively under the instruction of Malamini Jobarteh and Moriba Kuyateh of Brikama, The Gambia, and Kane Mathis of Brooklyn, NY. His performance will feature traditional songs that are the heart and soul of the Koras musical repertoire in addition to some of his personal compositions. Many songs tell ancient stories of war and hardship, while others praise people who helped expand the Mande Empire. Digital photos in disarray? If so, join Lisa Luken, Photo Organizer and Simplicity Coach, for this hands-on digital photo organizing workshop. Bring a MAC/Apple laptop and Lisa will help set up folders and begin to organize any digital photos. *Please be sure to run a full backup of the computer before bringing it to this workshop.* Registration is required as space is limited to 10 participants.
