Community concert to be held Sunday
A Good Shepherd Parish Community concert will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at at St. Joseph Church on Elm Street.
The concert will be organized by Church Music Director Helene Fortier, wtih all pieces to be performed by local musicians.
There is no charge for the concert but free-will donations will be accepted.
Any funds raised will be used toward St. James School Scholarships and other local charitable efforts.
A one-hour reception will follow with four local businesses providing food and a free raffle.

Pinewood Derby ready to roll at Rochambeau Club
The York District Pinewood Derby & Community Race will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Rochambeau Club at 329 South St.
Hosted by Biddeford Boy Scouts Pack 308, the event features registration for scouts at 8 a.m. with the race starting at 9 a.m. All other participants may register at 11 a.m. for a 12:15 p.m. race start.
Community members are invited to bring their own cars.

History Barn to host open house Saturday
A New Gloucester History Barn Open House will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at 383 Intervale Road, Route 231.
Featured items will include a newly restored 1857 Cumberland County map and a recently acquired New Gloucester militia War of 1812 drum.
The event is free and open to the public.

Animal rescue pet expo Sunday at local school
The Animal Welfare Society, the Cleo Fund, and neighboring animal organizations will host an Another Chance Animal Rescue Pet Expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the North Berwick Elementary School Gymnasium, at 25 Varney St.
Featured will be craft tables, merchandise, information and shelter animals.

Randy Judkins featured at comedic fundraiser
Maine entertainer and performer Randy Judkins will be featured at a comedic fundraiser at 7 p.m. Friday in the sanctuary of the Scarborough First Congregational Church, located at 167 Black Point Road.
Judkins performances are family-friendly and children are encouraged to attend.
The program is sponsored by the church’s men’s fellowship group.
Admission at the door is on a first-come, first-served basis, until sold out. Suggested minimum donations are $10 for adults, and $5 for children, cash or checks only. Checks should be made out to FCC Men’s Fellowship.

Community auction also features entertainment
The eighth annual Kittery Community Auction will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday at the Kittery Community Center at 120 Rogers Road.
The event includes a silent auction, live auction and live entertainment from the Tim Theriault Band.
Tickets are $20.
This event is a fundraiser for the Kittery Recreation Department and Traip Academy Sports Boosters.

Inaugural 10K race benefits American Heart Association
The American Heart Association’s inaugural HeartStrong 10K Race will will be held Sunday in Portland.
The event’s fundraising goal is $20,000 to benefit the live-saving work of the American Heart Association in Maine.
Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at Ocean Gateway Terminal, located at 14 Maine State Pier in Portland. The race begins at 9 a.m.
Fleet Feet Sports, the event’s sponsor, will award gift cards to the top three finishers in a variety of age groups ranging from under-20 to 70-plus. Packet pickup will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fleet Feet Sports located at 309 Marginal Way.
In addition, $250 cash prizes will be awarded to the first male and first female finisher and additional prizes will be awarded to the second and third runner-up for each gender. Free long-sleeved tech T-shirts will be provided to the first 100 registrants.
