Brunswick Executive Airport, part of the former Brunswick Navak Air Station, will receive a $116,465 federal grant to rehabilitate and seal cracks in 16,000 feet of a runway and taxiway to maintain pavement integrity and minimize debris.

The grant is part of a $401,923 package from the Federal Aviation Administration for Maine airports, announced Tuesday by Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, D-Maine.

Other recipients are Waterville Robert LaFleur Airport and Knox County Regional Airport in Rockland.

“Maine’s local airports are a critical part of our transportation network. They keep our state connected with the rest of the country and are important economic contributors regionally,” said Pingree in a press release. “Federal grants like this are key to keeping these local facilities maintained and operational without overburdening local budgets. I’m very glad these airports will be able to improve runway safety with these funds.”

Pingree sits on the House Appropriations Committee, which oversees funding for federal agencies, including the FAA.
