Buddy, the black lab who was abused by its owner, will move on from Coastal Humane Society in Brunswick to the Making Pawsitive Changes program in Kinross, Michigan, according to a report on WCSH6.com.

One of Buddy’s legs was amputated after he was allegedly hit and thrown by 29-year-old Robert LaChance of Brunswick.

The Making Pawsitive Changes program rehabilitates and trains dogs who have suffered abuse and provides prisoners at the Kinross Correctional Facility with the opportunity to develop empathy, patience and respect while teaching dogs basic skills.

After about 12 weeks in the program, Buddy will be placed for adoption through the Chippewa County Animal Shelter.
