AUGUSTA — Five members of the University of Maine at Augusta men’s and women’s basketball teams received national recognition recently at the United States Collegiate Athletic Association Championship Banquet in Uniontown, Pa.
Junior Jamie Plummer of Richmond was present to accept her third All- American Award, while freshman Caitlin LaFountain ( Topsham) received USCAA All- American Honorable mention honors.
Plummer, who was named to the USCAA First Team for the second year in a row, led the Moose in both points and rebounds, averaging 14.8 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. She ranked fifth in the conference in scoring and second in rebounding, and her 1.4 blocks per game were third.
LaFountain finished just behind Plummer in both scoring and rebounding, averaging 14.1 points and 10 rebounds per game. In the UMA home finale, she tallied a career- high 37 points.
The pair was also named to the USCAA Academic All-American team.
