NEW YORK — The men’s indoor track team grabbed first place in the 4×800 meter relay race en route to a successful meet at the ECAC Championship at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex over the weekend. The Polar Bears finished second overall.

The 4×800 team of John Kennealy, James Sullivan, Conor Donahue, and Jacob Ellis captured first in 7:45.23. Ellis was also first in the 800 race, finishing in a meet-record time of 1:51.91. Conor Donahue finished just behind Ellis in second with a time of 1:52.15.

Kennealy (500 race, 1:05.59) and Ben Torda (3000 race, 8:32.21) each posted a third place finish, with Nicholas Walker taking fourth behind Torda with a time of 8.33.34. Walker also placed third in the 5000 event, posting a personal-best time of 14.46.79. Torda teamed up with Harrison Porter, Connor Rockett, and Calvin Henry to place third in the distance medley relay (10:16.73).

Brian Greenberg was third in the men’s triple jump with a distance of 47-3, which is a new Bowdoin record. Joseph Staudt placed fifth in the heptathlon (4157 points), and Calvin Harry also finished fifth in the mile run (4:18.61).

Greenberg’s triple jump distance of 47-3 has earned him the 12th overall seed at this weekend’s NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships at Grinnell College in Iowa. Ellis will also be seeded 12th at the event, after qualifying for the 800 race with a time of 1:53.23.

Women’s track

The Polar Bears also took first place in the 4×800 race, with the team of Martha Bobem, Meghan Bellerose, Allyson Fulton, and Demi Feder finishing in 9:25.76 and leading Bowdoin to a 10th-place finish overall.

Individually, Katie Krupp won the women’s triple jump with a distance of 40-3, breaking her own school record. The distance medley team of Fulton, Bellerose, Feder, and Eleanor Brakewood finished fourth with a time of 12.21.64.

Sarah Kelley (mile, 4:56.34), Addison Carvajal (pentathlon, 3,415 points), and Krupp (triple jump, 38-2) have all qualified for the NCAA Championships this weekend. They will be seeded third, fifth, and 11th, respectively.

Women’s basketball

Bowdoin will head to Amherst College on Friday to battle Rochester in an NCAA Division III sectional game. Tip off is TBA and will come before the Amherst-Stevens game.
