LISBON (AP) — Police say two people were seriously injured after their motorcycle went off the road and struck a tree over the weekend in Maine.

It happened just after 8 p.m. Saturday in Lisbon. Police say a 43-year-old man was driving toward Route 196 when he lost control near the intersection and hit a tree head-on.

The driver and his 39-year-old passenger were seriously injured in the crash. They were airlifted to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Police say speed and alcohol were factors in the crash. Authorities are investigating.
