A Rumford woman was struck and killed early Saturday by a pickup truck whose driver was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, according to police.

Cailin Currivan, 26, died from injuries she received from being hit by the truck as she was walking on Route 17 in Roxbury near the Byron town line about 3:43 a.m., the Oxford County Sheriff’s Office said.

Police said Kyle Kennedy, 22, of Livermore Falls, who was operating the truck that struck Currivan, was charged with operating under the influence.

Police said Currivan was taken to Rumford Community Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Route 17 was closed for several hours while police investigated. The incident remains under investigation, police said.
