Little League sign-up ending

The registration deadline for the Cape Elizabeth Little League is Thursday, Feb. 25.

The league provides T-ball, softball and baseball opportunities for youth ages 4-14. Assessments are planned for mid-March and team practices will begin in April. Opening ceremonies are planned for Saturday, April 27, and the season will run through June.

Jazz concert at Cape library

The State Street Traditional Jazz Band will hold a concert Saturday, Feb. 27, at 2 p.m., at Thomas Memorial Library in Cape Elizabeth. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, see www.thomasmemoriallibrary.org or call 799-1720.

Kindergarten in Scarborough

The Scarborough School Department has scheduled a Kindergarten Information Night for parents only on Tuesday, March 1, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., in the cafeteria at Wentworth School.

The session is for any parent or guardian with a child entering kindergarten in the fall of 2016. Children must be 5 years old on or before Oct. 15, 2016, to enroll in school. Call the superintendent’s office at 730-4100 for more information.

Kindergarten in South Portland

Open kindergarten registration for all South Portland children who will be 5 years old on or before Oct. 15, 2016, will take place in each elementary school March 1-31. Parents should call their local school for a registration appointment. At the registration appointment parents or guardians must provide an original birth certificate, a copy of their child’s original immunization record and proof of residency.

Help find the next Superintendent

The Scarborough Board of Education is asking residents to participate in short survey to share their thoughts on the qualities and skills they would like to see in a new superintendent. The city of South Portland is now accepting applications for residents interested in serving on its new Affordable Housing Committee, which will be responsible for reviewing the quantity, accessibility and affordability of rental housing in the city.
