FALMOUTH — While the varsity boys hockey team for Mt. Ararat/Lisbon/Morse didn’t qualify for playoffs, the jayvee Eagles qualified to play in the inaugural Adams Division semifinals, which featured the top 4 teams in Casco Bay Arena’s new JV Boys Hockey League. The Eagles reached the championship game after defeating St. Dom’s 3-2 in overtime Friday night.
Nick Austin scored with 51 seconds left in the first overtime, which was played in the NHL-style 3- on- 3 format. The game-winning goal was assisted by Noah Austin. Nick Austin also scored the game-tying goal on assists by Owen Kelly and Cam Grant. Noah Austin scored the Eagles’ first goal on a pass from Cam Poisson. Goaltenders Orion Piston and Sam Aseltine were steady in net, combining for 23 saves to earn the win.
The JV Eagles will play Falmouth’s JV team, who defeated Cheverus in the other semifinal, 2-1, in the final next Friday at Casco Bay Arena. The puck will drop at 9 p.m.
