WELLS — Constance “Connie” “Memere” Comeau passed away peacefully with family by her side on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, after a yearlong illness.

She was born April 18, 1948, in Biddeford, the daughter of the late Roland and Simonne (Girouard) Gauthier of Hills Beach.

Connie was extremely creative, talented and funny. She loved to write, draw, paint, knit, crochet and make jewelry, and had a great love for music, the beach and animals. She was generous in nature, and was always making something for someone.

Connie had an infectious laugh, and enjoyed playing little pranks. She also had a love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; a sister, Carmen Bosse; and her husband, Charlie Comeau.

She is survived by: a sister, Patricia Auger and her husband Bob of Ellenton, Florida; an aunt, Jackie Roberge of Biddeford; two daughters, Michelle LaChapelle and Leo Higgins (the son she always wanted) of Ogunquit; Tricia Harrington and husband Johnny of Liberty; five grandchildren, Ashley Elwell of Union, Megan Raymond of Liberty, Morgan LaChapelle of Ogunquit, Hanna Harrington of Liberty and Sydney LaChapelle of Ogunquit; six great-grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.

The family deeply thanks the wonderful staff at Kennebunk Nursing Home & Rehab along with Hospice of York County for their excellent care and special companionship.

A Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s, 236 Eldridge Road, Wells, at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 23, followed by a luncheon. Connie will be buried at Ocean View Cemetery in Wells.
