The Blue Blazes came out flat against the Yachtsmen in the tournament quarters at the Portland Expo on Saturday night, Feb. 13, and never quite found their fire. Falmouth took full advantage of Westbrook’s slow start, pulling away early and eventually winning 61-33.

Falmouth opened the game with a 16-1 run and only built from there. Bailey Sawyer posted the Blazes’ first field goal of the night – but not until nearly two minutes of the second quarter had elapsed. Westbrook simply couldn’t get their shots to fall.

Miece Loureiro posted the Blazes’ best tally on the night, but even he only barely broke double-digits, with 10 points total. Other talented Westbrookers – including Sawyer, Zac Manoogian, Curtis Knapton, and Anderson Kavutse – fell relatively silent in the face of Falmouth’s defense.

Meanwhile, a bevy of Yachtsmen pushed the team’s score into the stratosphere: Brothers Colin and Thomas Coyne tallied 13 and nine, respectively; Sean Walsh hashed 13 and Sam Skop finished with the evening’s best offensive performance, 15.

Westbrook entered the postseason ranked seventh in A South, at 10-8. The Yachtsmen sailed through the regular season at 14-4 to earn the playoffs two-seed.
