This week finds students and staff enjoying their February vacation. However, the last few weeks have seen a great deal of activity at each of our schools. Here are just a few snapshots featuring a few of the wonderful things taking place in RSU 5:
‘Cinderella’
On Jan. 30, under the direction of Jill Hooper, Freeport Middle School students performed “Cinderella” at the Freeport Performing Arts Center.
Annual budget meeting
at Durham school
At its Feb. 3, meeting, the RSU 5 School Board voted to hold the annual budget meeting at Durham Community School. The meeting will be held on May 25, in the school gymnasium. The School Budget Validation Referendum is scheduled for Tuesday, June 14.
March 9 budget
public hearing
School will be back in session on Feb. 22. The school board will continue its review of the proposed 2016-2017 Budget on Feb. 24 and March 2, at 6:30 p.m., in the Freeport High School library. The board will hold a public hearing and invites all citizens to share comments on the budget at the board’s March 9 meeting. The public hearing will be held at Freeport High School, at 6:30 p.m., in the cafeteria. Following public input, the RSU 5 Board will deliberate and adopt a budget on March 23. On Feb. 3, RSU 5 Adult Education awarded five diplomas at a ceremony held at the Freeport Community Center. Curriculum Coordinator Mike Lafortune, addressed the graduates.
