LEWISTON — Matt Caron scored the tying goal with 6.3 seconds left in regulation and Ross LeBlond stopped a penalty shot in overtime as Scarborough played to a 4-4 tie against Lewiston in a Class A boys’ hockey game Monday night at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.
Lewiston (14-1-2), ranked No. 1 in Class A North, scored three straight goals in the third period – two by Kyle Morin and the go-ahead goal by Sam Frechette – to erase a 3-1 deficit.
Scarborough (13-1-3), the top-ranked team in Class A South, broke a 1-1 tie in the second period on goals by Skylar Pettingill and Cam Nigro.
Scarborough’s Eric Murray and Lewiston’s Jeromey Rancourt scored in the first period.
CAPE ELIZABETH 2, YARMOUTH 1: Philip Tarling scored the go-ahead goal late in the second period to lift the Capers (7-9-2) over the Clippers (14-4) in Yarmouth.
Cape Elizabeth’s Alex Glidden and Yarmouth’s Noah Grondin scored in the first period.
KENNEBUNK 3, GORHAM 1: James Ross, Gavin Baumler and Kyle Beaupre scored to lead Kennebunk (9-8-1) over Gorham (7-11) at USM Ice Arena.
Adam Peterson scored for Gorham in the second period after Kennebunk built a 2-0 lead on goals by Ross and Baumler.
CAMDEN HILLS 4, WINSLOW 3: Nick Czychra’s unassisted goal with eight seconds left in the second period broke a 3-3 tie as the Windjammers (14-3) defeated the Black Raiders (12-3-2) at Sukee Arena.
Chase Matteo scored twice and Jonah Cameron got the other goal for Camden Hills.
NOBLE/WELLS 4, SOUTH PORTLAND/FREEPORT/WAYNFLETE 3: Nate DeWolf’s goal with 3:44 remaining gave the Knights (8-8) a win over the Red Riots (5-10-2) at Troubh Ice Arena.
DeWolf’s goal came just 38 seconds after Mitchell Adams tied the game for the Red Riots.
Evan Whitten finished with two goals and two assists, and Chuck Mahar also scored for Noble.
The Red Riots got first-period goals from Max Winson and Cam Gillies.
MT. ARARAT/LISBON/MORSE 9, LAKE REGION/FRYEBURG/OXFORD HILLS 1: Noah Austin scored three goals and assisted on another as the Eagles (10-6-1) beat the Ice Cats (3-12-2) in Bridgton.
Sam Alexander added two goals and an assist, and Mark Abreu and Austin Fournier each had a goal and an assist.
Jared Chisari scored for the Ice Cats.
