BATH — Cartoonist and professional illustrator Vance Bessey will present a workshop for teens to create manga characters at Patten Free Library on Feb. 26 at 3:30 p.m. The workshop is free, open to teenagers (seventh grade and up), and will be held in the Library’s Community Room. Pre-registration is required.
“This workshop will be a sampler of the full-length course that I am currently offering at the Gamebox in the Topsham Fair Mall,” said Bessey. “My great love is teaching the skills, knowledge and tricks of the trade to up-and-coming cartoonists and illustrators.”
Bessey will demonstrate the basics of form and proportion as he guides artists in the creation of their distinctive manga and anime style characters. Participants are encouraged to bring a drawing pad and pencils. The workshop is open to beginners as well as more advanced students. Light refreshments will be served.
To register, call the library at (207) 443-5141, ext. 12. For more information, contact Roberta Jordan at (207) 443-5141, ext. 25, or send an email to rjordan@patten.lib.me.us.
