KENNEBUNK — Geraldine Keating Waterhouse passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, surrounded by loving friends and family.

Born and educated in Canada, Geraldine was the daughter of William and Martha Keating. She enjoyed her summer vacations in Kennebunk Beach before moving there permanently from Montreal in 1964.

Best known for her generous endowment toward the creation of the Waterhouse Center in downtown Kennebunk, Geraldine found great joy in the variety of wonderful events at the center, especially watching the children ice skate. She also served as a past director of Pepperell Trust Co. and the Animal Welfare Society of Kennebunk.

She was a member of Webhannet Golf Club, Kennebunk River Club, Kennebunk Beach Improvement Association, Arundel Yacht Club and Eagle Rock Yacht Club.

Geraldine was the beloved wife of the late Homer Waterhouse of Kennebunk, mother of the late Diane Gohier Costello of Satellite Beach, Florida, and the late Charles Gohier of Port St. Lucie, Florida. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, William Keating and Kevin Keating of Canada.

She is survived by: her loving granddaughter, Paige Hill and her husband Chris of Indian Harbour Beach, Florida; brothers Christopher Keating of Toronto and Michael Keating of New York City; sisters Aileen Petch of Toronto and Kathleen Stinton of Galt, Canada; and several nieces and nephews.

At Geraldine’s request, services will be private.
