MANCHESTER, N.H. — Fast food workers are set to walk off the job in New Hampshire’s largest city to demand an hourly wage of $15 and union rights.
The first “Fight for $15” event in New Hampshire was set for 2 p.m. Saturday in Manchester. Workers from McDonald’s, KFC, Wendy’s and other chains were set to congregate at the Wendy’s on South Willow Street in Manchester.
A march and demonstration is also planned for 6 p.m. Saturday outside the Republican debate at St. Anselm College in Manchester.
Organizers say 45 percent of New Hampshire workers are paid less than $15 an hour.
Fast food workers have held similar protests timed to high-profile presidential primary events in other states in recent months.
