BIDDEFORD — Catherine Ann Mahoney, 84, of Biddeford passed away on Jan. 27, 2016, at her home from effects of late-stage COPD.

Kitty was born June 11, 1931, in East Boston to Catherine (Mac- Dougall) and Joseph Burke. She was the baby sister to Mary Hartigan, Joseph Burke, Raymond Burke, John Burke, and Marjorie Buttiglieri, all predeceased, and her surviving sister, Jenny Burke, M.M., of Maryknoll, New York.

She was happily married to Edward Mahoney from Aug. 17, 1952, until his death in 2007. She was a devoted mother to 11 children, 23 grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren.

A parishioner of Most Holy Trinity, Kitty was a devout Catholic, a kind friend, an avid reader and a crossword puzzle whiz.

She lived in East Boston until 1974; Winchester, Massachusetts, until 1990; and most recently Biddeford. She spent summers in Peaks Island from 1969 to1997, and winters in Longboat Key, Florida.

She is preceded in death by: her sons, Thomas Mahoney and Robert Mahoney.

She is survived by: her children, Maureen and Bob Kearns, Theresa and Guy Lamontagne, Joseph Mahoney, John Mahoney, Edward and Leslie Mahoney, Paul and Marjorie Mahoney, Catherine and Tim Legassey, Patricia Rollins, and Michelle and Joshua Miller; daughter-in-law Marlene Mahoney; and many nephews and nieces.

Visiting hours will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29, 2016, at Cote Funeral Home, 87 James St., Saco

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016, at Most Holy Trinity Church, Good Shepherd Parish, Saco.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Biddeford.
