The Falcons cheerleaders finished sixth at Regionals this past Saturday, Jan. 23. The competition took place at the Augusta Civic Center. Since the top six teams earn States berths, Freeport’s performance is good enough to send them on to Feb. 6’s state championship at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

“[Our] performance was outstanding,” said Freeport head coach Jessica Duplisea. “We have some work to do and some minor changes to make in the next couple of weeks, but overall this was one of Freeport’s best showings ever.

“A lot of credit must be given to our seniors this year,” Duplisea said. “They really anchor the team and push them to be at their best. They are a huge part of our overall success.”

Medomak won the Regional meet; Gray-New Gloucester took second, Lake Region third, Wells fourth and Mountain Valley fifth.

Freeport High School’s cheering squad recently earned a berth in the state champiionship meet. In front, from left, are Grace Bertrand, Sarah Minihan, Kasey Erlebach and Allie Anderson. In back, from left, are Lauren Larrabee, Logan Baumli, Hope Therrien, Diamond Morris, Kallista Chandler, Tabatha Sabans, Erika Jordan Kling, Morgan Argraves and Kym Graves.
