TAMPA, Fla. — Nikita Kucherov snapped a second-period tie with his 20th goal and the streaking Tampa Bay Lightning ended Chicago’s franchise-record 12-game winning streak with a 2-1 win victory over the defending Stanley Cup champions Thursday night.

The win was the seventh straight for the Lightning – one shy of a team record – and gave the defending Eastern Conference champs a split of the season series with the Blackhawks, who won last year’s Stanley Cup final against Tampa Bay in six games.

Ben Bishop had 17 saves as the Blackhawks were held to a season-low 18 shots.

NOTES

LIGHTNING: General Manager Steve Yzerman said the suspension of Jonathan Drouin will not change efforts to trade the disgruntled forward.

The Lightning took the action after Drouin’s failure to report for Wednesday night’s game with AHL Syracuse. The third pick in the 2013 draft asked to be traded in November.

Slowed by injuries this season, Drouin was assigned to Syracuse on Jan. 2.

Drouin’s agent, Allan Walsh, said in a statement that he proposed to the team that Drouin not play in the next few Syracuse games to avoid injury ahead of a possible trade.

RANGERS: New York signed veteran forward Daniel Paille, who had been playing with the AHL Rockford IceHogs.

Paille has played 570 NHL games over parts of 10 seasons with Buffalo and Boston, registering 85 goals and 87 assists,

BLACKHAWKS-DUCKS: Chicago traded Ryan Garbutt to Anaheim for Jiri Sekac as the teams swapped forwards.

The 30-year-old Garbutt has two goals and four assists in 43 games with Chicago this season after being acquired from Dallas last July. The 23-year-old Sekac has one goal and two assists in 22 games with Anaheim this season.
