Welcome, Neighbor orients new residents

Local businesses and organizations can obtain free publicity by participating in Welcome, Neighbor, a grassroots community volunteer project. It was developed to welcome new residents to New Gloucester by providing information that may assist in their transition.

Only New Gloucester-based businesses, organizations and community groups will have the opportunity to include items, such as business cards, brochures or other promotional materials, in the 100 packets to be assembled. There’s no charge or obligation to participate.

To be included, drop off 100-count of your item to the town office by Friday, Feb. 19. For more information, call Beth at 650-5228.

Democrats to meet

The next meeting of the New Gloucester Democratic Committee is Friday, Jan. 22, beginning at 7 p.m., at the First Congregational Church, 19 Gloucester Hill Road, New Gloucester. Planning and organizing the biennial caucus scheduled for early March will be the principal focus of the meeting. All are welcome to attend. Pancake breakfast

The Royal River Riders Snowmobile Club will be hosting its annual pancake breakfast, from 7-10 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 31, at Rosanna’s Restaurant, 1055 Lewiston Road, New Gloucester. The menu includes pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, juice and coffee. The cost for adults is $7, $4 for children under 10.

Udderly amazing cows

Try your hand at milking a cow. Explore the dairy barns at Pineland Farms and learn about Holstein cows and how the staff cares for them on Saturday, Jan. 23, from 10-11:30 a.m. This Family Education Program is open to all ages and is repeated on Tuesday, Jan. 26, and Wednesday, Feb. 3, during the same hours.

Adult co-ed volleyball is served

Come to the Memorial School, 86 Intervale Road, New Gloucester, for Adult Co-Ed Volleyball. Pickup games are played on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7-9 p.m. during the school year. The program is free of charge. If school is cancelled due to weather on the day of volleyball, so is this program.
