Maine State Police say the man found dead at a Durham recreational area Tuesday is 43-year-old Alan Kelley of Durham, who most recently had been living at a Lewiston homeless shelter.

There is no immediate indication of foul play, but the State Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct toxicology tests before concluding the results of the autopsy, police said. Detectives said a hypodermic needle was found in Kelley’s clothing and they are still trying to determine how and when Kelley arrived at the Runaround Pond recreational area, since he had no car.

He also was not dressed for sub-freezing temperatures. Police said Kelley was estranged from his wife and children, who live about five miles away from where his body was found.
