Fluid Imaging Technologies was named a winner in the laboratory equipment category in Algae Industry Magazine’s 2015 International Reader’s Poll.
The Scarborough-based company was recognized for its FlowCam dynamic imaging particle analyzer technology.
Dan Libby, plant operator at the Camden and Rockland Division of Maine Water Co., recently graduated from the Management Candidate School, a program that prepares drinking water and wastewater personnel for career advancement in utility management.
Libby and 16 other water and wastewater professionals attended this yearlong program to enhance their skills in personnel management, supervisory skills, labor relations, budgeting and engineering basics.
The New England Board of Higher Education will honor Cianbro and the University of Maine at Presque Isle with excellence awards during a ceremony in March.
Cianbro will be recognized with a Business Contribution to Higher Education Award. Cianbro has partnered with various higher education institutions including Eastern Maine Community College, Husson University, Kennebec Valley Community College, St. Joseph’s College and the University of Maine at Augusta. Through these partnerships, Cianbro employees can pursue degree programs through seamless pathways and receive customized training opportunities.
The personalized learning program at University of Maine at Presque Isle will receive a Maine State Merit Award. The program offers a personalized approach to delivering instruction and assessing student learning.
Capt. Jeffrey Monroe, director of education and training for the International Association of Maritime and Port Executives, was awarded the Meritorious Public Service Award and Medal by the Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard.
Monroe was presented the award at his final meeting as chairman of the secretary of Homeland Security’s National Maritime Security Advisory Committee. He was recognized for “notable services that have assisted greatly in furthering the aims and functions of the U.S. Coast Guard.”
The American Institute of Architects Maine Committee on the Environment recognized Harriman with a special citation for historic adaption for its work on the renovation and addition at Good Will-Hinckley Moody School.
The school was constructed in the early 1900s and designed by the architectural firm of William R. Miller of Lewiston, replacing an earlier structure destroyed by fire.
The building is designed to an energy usage level approximately 30 percent less than a conventional building. This is achieved through the use of energy-efficient mechanical and lighting systems.
Kim Carignan of the Maine Real Estate Network was awarded the Seniors Real Estate Specialist designation by the Seniors Real Estate Specialist Council of the National Association of Realtors.
Carignan joins a specialized group of only 1 percent of real estate professionals in North America who have earned the designation.
Landry/French Construction Co. was named as the 2015 fastest growing company in Maine in the medium company category by Mainebiz.
The firm was one of three finalists selected in the mid-sized category with 26 to 74 employees.
