Anastasia Antonacos, a pianist and faculty member at the University of Southern Maine, kicks off the spring semester at USM’s School of Music with a solo recital featuring works by Schubert, Ravel and Elena Ruehr.
The concert will be held at 8 p.m. on Jan. 22 in Corthell Concert Hall on the Gorham campus. The program includes the last four Schubert Impromptus, written shortly before his death at age 31; Le Tombeau de Couperin by Ravel, a set of pieces written in homage to Francois Couperin; and a work by Elena Ruehr, an award-winning faculty member at MIT.
Antonacos, a 1997 graduate of USM’s School of Music, has performed around the world as a solo recitalist and chamber musician. She has played at venues such as the Salle Cortot in Paris, Casa Orfeo in Positano, Italy, Holland’s Alkmaar Conservatory, and Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York. She has also played in Greece, Russia, France and Belgium, as well as various venues in the U.S., including Washington D.C., where she also testified for funding for the National Endowment for the Arts.
Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors, USM employees and alumni, and $5 for students.
