“It’s a shame when a person, Governor or not, can’t voice a truth because it might offend someone.” – Dan Piippo
“Seriously, is anyone surprised by his latest comment? I refer to a comment made by another Republican “You can put lipstick on a pig but it’s still a pig.” ” – Euphoria2012
“It’s the truth. Why are we not allowed to say what we can see happening with our own eyes?” – Kenny Daiglish
“I’ve read the Governors comments a few times now and I really don’t see what the problem is. His comments were not racist, nor is he a racist. I am disappointed, yet not surprised, at the comments I see on this forum. The liberals have really nothing left but to bash Lepage and Trump and anything else they can bend to look offensive.” – 7T5IV
“Nobody despises LePage more than I do, so it pains me to be seen as defending him. But I don’t think he’s racist, nor was what he said racist just because he used the word “white.” There is plenty to criticize LePage for without going there.” – tet1953
” ‘Peter Steele, the governor’s communications director, defended LePage’s remarks Thursday night, saying the governor wasn’t speaking about race, but about the emotional toll that drugs have on children. ‘
What a thankless job, having to constantly defend indefensible statements by your boss. And with a straight face no less.” – Bob Rossi
“yup, lepage is “racist” but he adopted a black kid–how many of you “outraged” liberals ever did that?? thats what i thought” – I’m always right
“If an out of state drug dealer impregnates a Maine girl, there is a 98% chance she will be white. That is what the statistics say. So whats the big deal and why the ‘feaux outrage’?”- g8toNmaine
“LePage Spokesperson ” His heart goes out to these kids because he had a difficult childhood, too”, come on how much longer is he going to play that poor me shtick? He acts like he can say or do whatever he wants because, oh poor me. Memo to LePage, you are not the only one that grew up under difficult circumstances and unfortunately you wont be the last. Your fall back position of blaming everything on someone else or your upbringing is getting old. Rumor has it that a good part of your I grew up under tough circumstances is more fantasy than reality put out there by you for political expediency. To quote George Castanza “It is not a lie if you believe it” tell a story concocted in your head long enough and you confuse fantasy with reality.” – TomsinYork
“Dear Maine citizens, It’s time to dump your governor. Demand he resign or face impeachment. There is no room in civil discourse for your governor and he has become a national embarrassment.” – James Bordonaro
“drug dealers come to Maine from New York and Connecticut” Any of them come from New Jersey, or is that state pure because his bud Chris is in charge there?” – Bobb04106
“You know what we need? We need an organization who makes it their mission get young women the tools and information they need to safely and responsibly plan for their eventual growth into parenthood. But what would we call it?” – Gene Masseth
“”Half the time?” Does he have some solid research to back up the statement that 50% of out of state drug dealers impregnate a young white girl before leaving? Because it sounds to me like he comes from the Donald Trump school of talking out of his rear. Or as their fans like to call it, “being honest”.” – Jennifer P
“Just another day in Maine under the LePage’s “leadership”. I think we’d all like to see those statistics that show just how many of these heroin sellers are impregnating the “white girls”.” – Beachcomber
“I’m no fan of LePage, but I saw nothing wrong with what he said. It’s happening every day in every town and city throughout Maine. I’ve seen it myself, in Waterville.” – yendor1152
“Now if Trump would say these things, his numbers would go up in the polls. Sometimes the PC situation goes a bit far. They are just looking for a gotcha moment to take Lepage down. Pick your battles, this isn’t it.” – free2bme59
“In the alternative reality/universe that is Gov LePage, I am wondering how a typical day in the life of a new york / connecticut drug dealer working in Maine would go: 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon – travel to Maine; 12 Noon to 3:00 p.m.: do various drug deals; 3:00 to 3:15 – find white girl to impregnate; 3:15 – get back on the road and head home…….yeah, sounds pretty realistic to me.” — Joe Dill
“This asinine comment by the Governor is a good example why our youth are leaving the state and we can’t attract high tech industries with good paying jobs. So long tax base, hello higher taxes.” — seekpeek
“I’m not a big fan of his even though I voted for him this past time. But he does make some good points some times. I might wish he had worded his comment a bit differently but I think he was right on the overall point.” — CleanUpME
Too bad you’re stuck with this Governor and his loudmouth. Supporters of Mr. LePage who are business owners tied to the tourist industry consider this; I’m vacationing in New Hampshire early this year, I’ve always wanted to visit Maine too, now, not so much. Your Governor is a reflection of your State whether you like it or not. Right now, I don’t like what I see very much and I think I’ll just go to Vermont instead. To his supporters – enjoy his rhetoric for now, you will be paying a price for it. — Steve Lappier
