BIDDEFORD — A murder case stemming from the 2013 shooting death of a Biddeford man has been moved from York County Superior Court in Alfred to Cumberland County Superior Court in Portland.
Tamara Rueda, a clerk at York County Superior Court, said Monday that the change was made because of the number of people involved in the case and a lack of space at the Alfred courthouse. During a hearing at the Alfred courthouse in November, tables and chairs had to be rearranged to accommodate the three defendants and their attorneys.
Bub Peter Nguany and John Lopez of Old Orchard Beach and Mohamud Mohamed, whose last known address was in Portland, have all been charged with murder in the death of Charles Raybine. Police say Raybine was shot in the face three times while sitting in a rental car in the parking lot of a Birch Street apartment in the early hours of March 26, 2013.
Each suspect has pleaded not guilty. A trial date has not been set.
On Nov. 20, the first of at least two hearings was held to determine whether Mohamed was arrested without probable cause and whether search warrants were obtained. A court official at Cumberland County Superior Court said Monday that no additional hearings have been scheduled for the case.
