HARPSWELL — Democrat Brownie Carson, executive director of the Natural Resources Council of Maine since 1984, is running for the state Senate District 24 seat being vacated by Sen. Stan Gerzofsky, D-Brunswick.

Carson’s candidacy registration was accepted by the Maine Commission on Governmental Ethics and Election Practices on Dec. 17.

District 24 includes Brunswick, Freeport, Harpswell, North Yarmouth, and Pownal.
