Federal prosecutors say a New York man has pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiring to distribute heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine in Maine.
Wayman Sparrow, 25, also pleaded guilty to firing a gun during a crime of violence. Court records say he conspired with others from New York and Portland to bring drugs to Maine and distribute them from apartments and hotels in the Portland area. The records also say he got into a gun battle with a former co-conspirator in the hallway outside an apartment in Portland while he was distributing drugs.
Prosecutors say Sparrow faces up to 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine on the drug charges and a consecutive sentence of 10 years to life in prison on the gun charge.
