South Portland City Councilor Claude Morgan recently referred to water boarding in relation to questions about Councilor Brad Fox’s behavior. We wish to go on record as deploring this kind of discourse in our council’s deliberations. Frankly, it came as a surprise to many of us in South Portland, for we had always found Morgan to be a respectful and well spoken member of the council. Let us hope that this kind of thing will not happen again. Vigorous and spirited debate, yes. But references like this, please no.
