Planning Board members needed
The town of Raymond is seeking two volunteers to be members of the Planning Board.
If you are interested in guiding the orderly development of the town of Raymond, as well as ensuring the environmental protection of our five ponds and two lakes, then this is the opportunity for you. The Planning Board enforces the land use ordinances and has a hand annually in developing future ordinances and changing existing ordinances.
If you care about your town and want to have a hand in its protection, then this is the place for you. Background in municipal planning, development, real estate, building, etc., each have something to add to the Planning Board as well. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. the second Wednesday of the month (public invited) at the Raymond Broadcast Studio. Call 655-4742 for more information or visit www.raymondmaine.org for an application.
Raymond PTO Holiday Fair
The annual Holiday Fair organized by the Raymond Schools Parent-Teacher Organization had another successful evening. On Dec. 11, kids could do three different crafts, purchase small gifts for family and have them wrapped, face painting, story telling, bingo, and a cookie bar (fill a bag with as many cookies as you can for $1.) Themed baskets were raffled along with holiday wreaths and a glitter painting of Santa done by Ms. Mindy, the RES head office admin all parents know and appreciate so much!
The event raised $700. Monies raised through PTO is used to provide two town scholarships to graduating seniors and help to fund the field trips that all eight grades take. The PTO also fund other requests from teachers for educational programs for their classrooms.
PTO is always looking for new people. The meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month at the Jordan-Small Middle School library. Membership is open to anyone who wants to support our schools and the cost is $5 per year. There are many fun upcoming events this year to participate in.
