Lunch with Santa
Project Graduation 2016 will hold a “Lunch with Santa” on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Windham High School Cafe?. Lunch includes hot dog, mac ’n cheese, cookies and drink. Red Cross CPR & ?First Aid class
Saint Joseph’s College will offer a course in Adult CPR/AED & First Aid and Adult & Pediatric CPR/AED & First Aid on Saturday, Jan. 16, at the Harold Alfond Center on the Standish campus. Senior Center activities
The Lakes Region Senior Center will be closed for Christmas, Dec. 24-25. On other days, the drop-in center at Little Falls Activity Center is open from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday through Thursday and on Friday, opening at 10:30 a.m. Stop in for coffee, tea, socializing, puzzle table, bocce ball or other activity. On Monday, mahjong is held; beginners are welcome, call Diane at 892-9529 for more information. Tuesday features card games and crafts, call 892-0298; the second and fourth Wednesday is a memoir writing group (call David at 892-5604). Poker night
Check in at Dena’s near the post office in North Windham, if you’re interested in playing poker. The Windham Veterans Center hosts poker on the first and third Wednesdays. Anyone interested can also call 653-1582 for more information. Proceeds benefit the Windham Veterans Center.
Discount ticket program
The Windham Parks & Recreation Department is offering discount tickets to a number of ski mountains as well as the Portland Pirates and Portland Dine-Around card. People will save a significant amount of money and time by purchasing their tickets this way. Stop by the Parks & Recreation Office anytime, 8 a.m.-4 pm., Monday-Friday or call 892-1905.
Essentials Pantry
On Saturday, Dec. 19, the Essentials Pantry is open, 8:30-9:30 a.m. It is located downstairs at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church, Windham and provides non-food items for those who qualify. One bag per household includes personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies and more.
Cancer support group
The Windham Cancer Support Group meets at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 28 (the last Monday each month) at Windham Public Library. They provide support and education for all cancer victims, cancer survivors and caregivers of anyone dealing with cancer in a relaxed and enjoyable meeting atmosphere.
