Lunch with Santa

Project Graduation 2016 will hold a “Lunch with Santa” on Saturday, Dec. 12, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Windham High School Cafe?. Lunch includes hot dog, mac ‘n’ cheese, cookies and drink. Cost is $5 per child and $20 per family or four or more. Reservations are recommended but tickets are available at the door. To sign up, go to whsprojectgraduation2016@yahoo.com.

Vet’s wreaths

On Saturday, Dec. 5, hundreds of our veterans’ graves will be crowned with wreaths at this holiday season. This is a wonderful commemoration to those who fought and died for our freedom. Please join in this community effort – call 892-1306 or 892-7523 to see how you can help.

Free gift-wrapping ?for veterans

On Sunday, Dec. 6, from 2-4 p.m., Windham American Legion Auxiliary will provide free gift wrapping for veterans. All veterans are welcome to bring their gifts to be wrapped – for free – and enjoy music and cookies. This event will take place at Windham Veterans Center on Memorial Drive in back of Hannaford.

North Pole Hotline

The North Pole Hotline is offered free by the Windham Parks & Recreation Department to give pre-school thru third graders from Windham the opportunity to talk directly to Santa Claus through a special “hotline” connected to the North Pole. Forms are available for moms and dads to fill out, fax or mail into the Parks and Recreation office. Watch the magic happen as your child gets a very special phone call from a very special man. Christmas toys, dinner

Signup for the Christmas Dinner and Toy Workshop at the Windham Food Pantry ends Wednesday, Dec. 9. This is for Windham residents and you need to go to the pantry with proof of residency Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Stuff the Bus

On Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5-6, Windham Lions Club will be at Hannaford’s from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., collecting food for Windham Food Pantry. Monetary donations to purchase turkeys and hams and non-perishable food items will be accepted.

St. Ann’s ?Christmas Fair

A Christmas Fair will be held on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church, Windham. Items include wreaths, jewelry, crafts, silent auction, mittens and a wonderful luncheon all in the new facility.

Made in Maine Fair

On Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 5-6, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Route 302, Windham, will hold a Made in Maine Christmas Craft Fair from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Included are raffles for a homemade quilt and flat screen TV, cafe? all day Saturday, brunch on Sunday; home baked goods, theme and holiday gift baskets, Christmas decorating items, hand knits, hand-sewn items, jewelry, kids’ corner, gift certificates and tickets for theaters, museums, restaurants and many local businesses.

8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, at Schoolhouse Arts Center, Standish.

Essentials pantry

On Saturday, Dec. 19, the Essentials Pantry is open, 8:30-9:30 a.m. It is located downstairs at St. Ann’s Episcopal Church, Windham. One bag per household includes personal hygiene items, cleaning supplies and more.

Cancer Support Group

Windham Cancer Support Group meets at 6:30 p.m. on the last Monday each month at Windham Public Library. They provide support and education for all cancer victims, cancer survivors, and caregivers of anyone dealing with cancer in a relaxed and enjoyable meeting atmosphere for anyone dealing with cancer in any of its forms.

VFW meets

On Wednesday, Dec. 9, Windham VFW Post 10643 will hold a business meeting at 5 p.m. at the Windham Veterans Center, followed at 6 p.m. by a holiday supper.

Rotary Club meeting

The Sebago Lake Rotary Club meets every Thursday at 12:15 p.m. at Dena’s Lobster Hose, 765 Roosevelt Trail. At the Dec. 10 meeting, Donnell Carroll will speak on the Narrow Gauge Railroad. Check the website www.sebagolakerotary.com for more information.

Senior Christmas lunch

On Monday, Dec. 7, the Lakes Region Senior Center will hold a Christmas luncheon and party at the Windham Veterans Center, in back of Hannaford on Memorial Drive. Social hour is at 11 a.m. and luncheon is at noon. If you plan to attend, the cost is $5 for members and $9 for guests, payable at the door. The buffet includes Caesar salad, garlic mashed potato, squash, pork loin w/gravy, baked haddock w/crumb topping, rolls, apple crisp and beverages. Feel free to bring a non-perishable food item for the food pantry container.

TRIAD meeting

The next meeting of the Westbrook-Gorham-Windham TRIAD will be held on Friday, Dec. 11, at 9 a.m. at 22 Foster St., Westbrook. Guest will be from AARP, speaking about scams. For more information contact Windham police officer Patricia Buck at 892-2525.

Help for Veterans

On Wednesdays, Dec. 9 and 23, Veterans Service Officer Matt Haley will be at the Windham Veterans Center to answer questions and assist veterans and their dependents. You do not need an appointment.
