The Greater Portland Council of Governments and the prospective developer of the Mallison Falls mill property will hold a public meeting Thursday, Dec. 3, at 5:30 p.m. in the main building of the Mallison Falls mill site, located at 3 and 4 Mallison Falls Road in Windham.
The meeting will discuss the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s planned cleanup of the Mallison Falls property.
The prospective developer, HardyPond Construction of Portland, which intends to build apartments at the site, has been awarded a cleanup loan through GPCOG’s Brownfield Revolving Local Fund to remediate environmental conditions.
Representatives from the company and GPCOG will discuss the cleanup plans and accept public comment on the plan at the Dec. 3 meeting. Additional public comment will be allowed until Dec. 21.
