MaineToday Media announced two new hires.
Shamus Alley joined the Web development team as director of digital design.
Alley is an artist, interactive Web designer and Web developer. He has experience in digital agencies, with roles such as creative director, front end developer and art director. He was a staff writer/interactive creative director for Rescue Magazine. Most recently, he was a front end developer/designer for Page One Web solutions.
Jason Pafundi joined the Kennebec Journal as a reporter.
Pafundi has several years of experience in news and media. Most recently, he was a reporter for the Daily Journal corporation in Los Angeles. He was a freelance writer for the Portland Press Herald before being hired at the KJ.
Sage Data Security has appointed Jockel Carter to senior information security adviser.
Carter brings more than 20 years of experience in information technology, including eight years in cybersecurity. Most recently, he worked for Agero as a principal security engineer and the organization’s PCI master.
Jane Bopp joined the team of human resources consultants at KMA Human Resources Consulting of Falmouth.
Bopp, of Falmouth, has more than 15 years of experience in human resources. She will provide consulting and organizational development services to clients throughout Maine and northern New England.
The Maine Small Business Development Centers has hired Peter Harriman as a business adviser in its Portland office at the University of Southern Maine.
Harriman will provide business advising to new and existing entrepreneurs and small businesses in Cumberland County. Most recently, he worked as a loan specialist at the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Karen Dow-Butler joined Chalmers Insurance Group York as a personal lines insurance account manager.
She brings over 30 years of client service experience to the firm. She previously worked as an account manager for notable agencies across New England. She is a home and auto coverage expert.
Bath Savings Institution announced the hiring of two new bank officers.
Rachel Bouchard of Topsham joined the bank as the vice president of compliance.
She previously worked for Douglas Title Co. and H&D Title and Closing Services.
Mara Pennell of Harpswell joined as an assistant vice president, commercial lender.
She started in the banking industry in 2002 and brings a broad spectrum of banking experience.
PROMOTIONS
Bath Savings Institution has promoted Sarah Piper to commercial lender.
Piper, of South Portland, was previously a commercial lending assistant. She joined Bath Savings as a teller in 2013.
The Maine Small Business Development Centers named Steve Lovejoy to center director at its Portland office at the University of Southern Maine.
Lovejoy has been a business adviser with the Maine SBDC for over four years, most recently serving the York County area. He specializes in small-business banking, finance and marketing.
Stephanie Dunn was promoted at Unum to a marketing consultant in its Portland office.
She previously worked as a sales coordinator, and most recently as a market specialist in Quote Unum. She lives in Portland.
SmartCatalog in Westbrook has promoted Christine Cook to business manager.
Cook was previously a bookkeeper. The company recently moved into newly renovated offices at the Dana Warp Mill and maintains an office in Washington, D.C.
AWARDS and RECOGNITIONS
Michelle Raber, owner of the Raber State Farm Insurance Agency in Scarborough, earned the Chartered Financial Consultant designation awarded by the American College of Financial Services.
Raber, of Scarborough, received the designation following completion of an extensive educational program for financial services professionals. She has been with State Farm for 22 years.
State Sen. Rebecca Millett of Cape Elizabeth was named to the Maine Alliance for Arts Education board of directors.
The Center for Guardianship Certification announced that Teri McRae is now a National Certified Guardian.
McRae, of Portland, has provided guardianship services for seven years and serves anyone with fiduciary or guardianship needs. She served four years as registrar of probate in Cumberland County before starting her own practice.
Adele Nichols, a senior account manager at Clark Insurance of Portland, was recently was named Insurance Professional of the Year at the Maine State Council Annual Meeting of the International Association of Insurance Professionals.
Nichols has worked in the insurance industry since 2003.

Sally Loving of Brunswick is a self-employed communications consultant for advocacy groups in Washington, D.C., and New York.
Joyce McPhetres of Topsham is the chief human resources officer at Community Health Options.
GENERAL
The Junior League of Portland recently announced the appointment of Jillian Rich as president for 2017-18.
Rich, of Portland, has been an active member of the Junior League of Portland for over five years and held multiple leadership roles. She currently serves on its board of directors as vice president of the mentoring and placement council. She spent the past four years working as a marketing and community relations at Bangor Savings Bank, where she currently serves as assistant vice president and senior marketing coordinator.
