Two Naples men face charges of aggravated heroin trafficking after they were arrested Tuesday night following a traffic stop in which 27.5 grams of heroin was seized.
Agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency and Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office have been investigating for the past month heroin distribution in the Naples area and learned that Lawrence Dyer, 51, and Kenneth Brown, 28, were routinely traveling out of state to buy heroin, which they repackaged for sale in Maine, police said.
The pair left Maine Tuesday afternoon and when they returned around 11 p.m., sheriff’s deputies and Windham police stopped the car Brown was driving on Route 302 in Raymond.
The two men were taken to Cumberland County Jail and each is being held on $10,000 bail. Once repackaged for retail sales, the drugs would be worth $5,000, police said.
